Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series
Carson Ferguson Claims First Leg of All-Tech's HTF Doubleheader
LAKE CITY, Fla. (April 12) — Rebounding from his disappointing start to the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series season in emphatic fashion, Carson Ferguson of Lincolnton, N.C., led all but the first two laps of Friday night's HTF Series feature at All-Tech Raceway to score a $5,000 victory on the opening night of the track's Southbound Throwdown presented by Earth Tek.
Ferguson, who started the chase for the HTF tour's $50,000 championship with a DNQ at Talladega Short Track in March, dominated Friday's 30-lap feature on his way to scoring the third HTF victory of his career. Starting from the outside pole, Ferguson roared around polesitter Joseph Joiner on lap three and maintained a comfortable advantage over the remaining distance in topping runner-up Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., by 3.188 seconds at the finish.
Fourth-starting Whitener scored the second-place finish after topping a back-and-forth battle with sixth-starting Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., who backed up his victory in the tour's season opener at Talladega with a third-place finish in Friday's race.
Ashton Winger of Hampton, Ga., rallied from 16th to finish fourth, and 11th-starting Trey Mills of St. Augustine, Fla., finished fifth. The pole-starting Joiner slipped back to eighth at the finish.
